If ones mouth bleeds and then you lick lips, do you have to wash the lips?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

The fuqaha mention that if somebody drinks wine and then immediately afterwards drinks a glass of water, that water will become impure (najas) as it came into contact with his impure lips. If, however, he waits a few moments for the saliva to go around his mouth and either swallows a few times or spits the saliva out, his mouth will be considered legally pure, as though the saliva washed the inside of his mouth.

This being the case, one’s lips will only be considered impure if

a) one licks one’s lips during or immediately after the mouth bleed, and

b) one is sure that the saliva that comes into contact with one’s lips had indeed come into contact with the blood. If either of these two conditions is not met then one can assume one’s lips to be pure. (Hashiya al-Tahtawi ‘ala Maraqi al-Falah)

One must keep in mind, however, that blood is impure and to intentionally swallow it would not be permissible. One should rather spit out a few times until no trace of the blood remains after which one’s mouth is legally pure.

And Allah knows best.
