Needing Ghusl on a Plane

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

What is the ruling for a person who loses ghusl in a sleep while in airplane?! How is he going to pray if unable to perform ghusl?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

Walaikum assalam,

If one cannot perform ghusl in such a situation, one must perform dry ablutions (tayammum) and pray.

Allah Most High said,

“And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks.” (Qur’an, 5.6)

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
