What Do You Do If You Need to Make Ghusl and Pray But Sunrise Occurs in Few Minutes?

Question: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

If one wakes up needing to perform ghusl but does not have enough time to do so before sunrise, what should one do?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are well, insha’Allah.

One would simply perform the ritual bath (ghusl) and pray after the sun has risen. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]

It is worth noting that one should be able to have a quick shower, in approximately one minute, ignoring any baseless misgivings, and then pray a quick prayer.

In such circumstances the usefulness of knowing the obligatory and necessary acts of one’s worship come into practice.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalaam,
