Why Delay Fajr & Asr?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I was just reading this and wondering if u may have the proofs for delaying Fajr and Asr salah in the Hanafi Madhhab, or perhaps the reason to do so? And is it necessary or more rewarding? I’ve only read where we should hasten to offer our prayers as soon as it is prayer time, and that there will be certain people in Jannah who will be known to have prayed their salah early.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Among The Proofs For Delaying Fajr Prayer

The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Pray fajr when it is bright, for it is greater in reward.” [Reported by Imam al-Tirmidhi and others .Imam al-Tirmidhi commented that most of the Companions used to pray fajr at this time.]

Among the Proofs for Delaying Asr Prayer

Abu Dawud and others relate that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to delay praying Asr, as long as the sun remained white and clear.

The proofs, of course, are far, far more extensive and exhaustive than this.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani.
