What does it mean that Allah comes down on the first heaven on certain nights?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
I have read in a book that there are seven heavens. And Almighty Allah comes down on the 1st heaven (or the sky of the world) certain blessed nights. I don’t understand what this means. Does this mean that ontop of the sky there is another 6 skies? I am very sorry but
I have recently accepted Islam and I don’t understand.

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

There are certain times or places that draw the special mercy or attention of Allah Ta’ala. For instance, at the time of Tahajjud or within the Haram Shareef at Makkah.

‘Coming down to the first sky’, etc. is not in its literal sense. It could mean that His Tajalliyaat (His Divine light) comes down or the words ‘coming down’ is used in a form of Tamtheel (portrayal or exemplification) of Allah Ta’ala’s special attention towards something.

From the miracles of the Quran-
The layers of the atmosphere (heaven).

Allah Ta’ala says,

“He it is Who created for you all that is on earth. Then He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven and made them seven heavens and He is the All-Knower of everything.” (2:29)

Allah Ta’ala says in another place, “Then He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: “Come both of you willingly or unwillingly.” They both said: “We come, willingly.”

“Then He completed and finished from their creation (as) seven heavens in two Days and He made in each heaven its affair. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.” (41:11,12)

The expansion of the universe

Allah Ta’ala says,

“With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof.” (51:47)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
