Finding a small spec of make-up on one’s face after performing salaah

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Q: I performed wudhu approximately 3 times in one sitting. I did this because the first 2 times I thought I touched something impure and hence I thought I needed to redo my wudu.

I had make up on the day before so during wudhu I used a face wash and rubbed my eyes with it to get rid of the eyeliner and mascara and then rinsed it with water and I kept rubbing and checking my fingers until no black residue was there. I must have washed my face definitely atleast 3 times possibly more but I’m unsure. So I finished my wudu and and prayed.

After prayer I was cleaning the dressing table and the mirror and in the mirror I saw a tiny black spec which I thought to be either eyeliner or mascara. The spec was very small and when I saw it I just wiped it off my dry face with my dry hand and it moved easily. It was just a spec and no residue. I don’t think it got stuck to the skin because it moved when I wiped it off. The spec was just above the cheekbone or on the upper part of the cheekbone. The spec was less than half a cm, I think it was about 1 or 2 mm. I came to know of this spec after prayer. Is my prayer valid?

A: If the small spec did not prevent water from reaching the skin then the wudu was valid and the salaah performed with the wudu was also valid. If it prevented water from reaching the skin, the wudhu was not valid and the salaah performed was also not valid. In this case, the salaah will have to be repeated.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
