2.  Who is the author?

3.  Is it a Hadith Kitaab?

Answer:

Ahmad bin Ahmad bin Salamah Abul Abbas Shihabud Deen Al-Qalyoobi, who passed away in 1069 A.H. was a refined Jurist and literary from a place known as Qalyoob in Egypt.  He was a student of a renowned Shafi’i Jurist by the name of Shamsud Deen

Ar-Ramali.  Al-Qalyoobi has authored many booklets and commentaries and has also written many explanatory notes.  These are the names of a few of these booklets and notes: Fadhaailu Makkata wa Madinata wa Baitil Maqdisi wa Shayoom min Taareekhi-haa, Tadhkiratul Qalyoobi, Tuhfatur Raghaaib and footnotes on Jami’us Sagheer lis Suyooti.  He has also written many books on geography and medical issues.  The booklet ‘Qalyoobi’ is also written by the same author and deals with Adab.  We are not aware of its contents as we do not have one in our collection.  (Al-A’laam, Vol. 2, Page 96, Urdu Daairah Ma’aarif-e-Islaamia, Vol. 16, Page 402, Haalaat-e-Musannifeene-Darse Nizaami, Page 367)
