Are there any other types of meat besides Halal and Haram (e.g. Makrooh)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
Assalamu Alaikum Sir, apart from Halal and Haram is there any other type in meat such as Makrooh etc.? The thing is that, in our area Halaal food is available in very limited places and people have started consuming food in Chinese Restaurants. When they were prohibited they say that they have heard from someone that when a Halaal animal is slaughtered even without the prescribed method of Islam it is not Haram but becomes Makrooh, whereas I have heard that a Halal animal slaughtered in un-islamic way becomes Haram and a Haram animal slaughtered in islamic way too remains Haram. But I do not have any evidence to this effect and therefore asking you the ruling of Qur’an and Hadees in this regard. Wassalam

Any Halal animal if slaughtered without saying Bismillah and against the Islamic method of slaughtering or, if the slaughterer is a Mushrik (one who attributes partners to Allah), Murtadd (apostate) or a non-Muslim then the animal so slaughtered too is Haram and called a dead animal according to the Shari’a. Whoever calls it Makrooh is nothing but deceiving himself and tantamount to creating conflicts and chaos among the general public, abstinence from which, is Wajib and obligatory.
