Is taking fees for a school established in a madrasa permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
In our locality, the Imam of a masjid did waqf of a piece of land for us to establish a madrasa. 8-10 years after, a school was also established in that madrasa for which fees are taken from students for studying. Is this permissible? This land had been given in waqf for the sake of religious education, so is it permissible to take fees for this?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

If along with religious education, secular education is also being provided in the madrasa built on the land given by the Imam, and fees are also being taken from students, then there will be no problem in doing such. However, using this piece of land for only providing religious education and taking fees for it is not correct and must be avoided.
