Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

What is the source of this Hadith?

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. Imam Abu Ya’la (rahimahullah) has also recorded this narration with variation in the wording.

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 704, vol. 24, Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 2589 and Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 7162)

Translation

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would revere the day of ‘Aashura so much so that he would call the suckling children and Fatimah’s (radiyallahu ‘anha) suckling children and instruct their mothers not to feed them till the night. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would place his saliva in their mouths and that would suffice them [against hunger].

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
