A Hadith regarding oaths

What is the authenticity of this Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) heard a man taking an oath [using his father’s name] and said: ‘Do not take oaths using your father’s name. Whoever takes an oath by Allah, let him fulfil his oath, and if an oath is sworn for a person using Allah’s name, then he should be pleased [and accept that oath]. Whoever is not content with Allah has nothing to do with Allah.’”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2101)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasan). ‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable (thiqat).

(Fathul Bari, Hadith: 6648, vol. 11 pg. 536 and Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 698)

The first part of the Hadith ‘Do not take oaths using your father’s name’ is recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim as well.
