The name ‘Manaf’

Is the name ‘Manaf’ from among the Asmaul Husna of Allah Ta’ala?

Answer

The name Manaf is not from the names of Allah Ta’ala. Rather it was the name of an idol in the days of Jahiliyyah.

(Tajul ‘Arus, vol. 12 pg. 515)

Some Historians have cited a narration which suggests that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had named one of his sons ‘Abdu Manaf’ before Prophet hood. However this narration has been transmitted through a liar. ‘Allamah Zurqani (rahimahullah) has rejected the authenticity of the narration and has also quoted other Muhaddithun who have rejected the authenticity of this narration.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
