The du’a of Nuh (‘alayhis salam) when wearing shoes

Is this du’a authentic to recite when wearing shoes?

الحمد لله الذي حذاني ولو شاء أحفاني

Alhamdulillahilladhi hadhani wa law sha-a ahfani

Answer

This is not a du’a or Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

This is actually the du’a of Nuh (‘alayhis salam) recorded by Imam Ibn Jarir At Tabari (rahimahullah) with a weak chain. ‘Imran ibn Sulaym says that Nuh (‘alayhis salam) would recite this du’a when wearing shoes.

(Tafsir Tabari, Surah Isra, Verse: 3, vol. 14 pg. 453. Refer: Al Futuhatur Rabbaniyyah, vol. 5 pg. 235)

You may recite this du’a.

Translation

‘All praise belongs to Allah who has given me shoes to wear. If he wished he could have made be barefoot.’
