Is this Hadith authentic?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “By Allah! I am not afraid that you will worship others besides Allah after me, but I am afraid that you will compete with each other for [the pleasures of] this world.”
Answer
Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as part of a longer Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The Hadith is therefore authentic.
