Is this Hadith correct?
نجا أول هذه الأمة باليقين والزهد ويهلك آخر هذه الأمة بالبخل والأمل
Answer:
Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya and Imam Abul Qasim Al Isbahani (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith.
(Kitabu Qasril Amal, Hadith: 20, Kitabul Yaqin, Hadith: 3 and At Targhib Wat Tarhib of Abul Qasim Al Isbahani, Hadith: 165)
The narration is corroborated and suitable to quite.

Translation
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The first people of this ummah [i.e. The Sahabah and Tabi’un] were saved due to their conviction and asceticism and the last of this ummah will be destroyed due to miserliness and hopes/expectations.”
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
