Parents forsaking their children

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I just wanted to know that what does the Quran or Hadith say about parents forsaking their own children?

Answer

This is a serious wrong.

We have been exhorted repeatedly in the Quran and Hadith to fulfill our responsibilities, and not to forsake them!
A Hadith in Sahih Bukhari states that every person is a shepherd, and will be asked regarding his flock.
In other words, every father will also be asked about how he fulfilled the rights of his children. If he failed, he will be liable.
