What is the authenticity of this Hadith?
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “For every matter there is a thing that spoils it, and what spoils this Din is the evil rulers”
Answer:
Imam Harith (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration in his Musnad on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a weak chain.
(Musnadul Harith; Bughyatul Bahith, Hadith: 614. Also see: Al Matalibul ‘Aliyah, Hadith: 4346 and Al Mudawi, Hadith: 7310/2804)
However, this subject matter is supported by the statement of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) which is recorded in Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3834 .
