The multiple benefits of using the miswak

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

What is status of following narration? Please provide its original source, and can it be quoted?

It is written in Fadail A’mal like this.(more or less)

Some Ulama say that in punctual usage of Miswak has 70 benefits, one of which is that the person will get opportunity to recite Kalima e Shahdat at the time of death.

In contrast to this, in usage of Opium is 70 harms, one of which is that the person doesn’t get the opportunity at the time of death to recite kalimah.”

Answer

This is not a Hadith. Like the source you have cited (Fadail A’mal) clearly states: ‘Some ‘Ulama say’

Other ‘Ulama have also made similar statements.

(See Raddul Muhtar, vol.1 pg.115 & Zadul Ma’ad, vol.4 pg.296)

Points like these, are generally deduced by the ‘Ulama in light of Hadith, as well as real life experiences.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
