A du’a for protection against sorcery and Shaytan

What is status of following narration and can it be quoted?

Whomsoever reads the du’a mentioned in this Hadith, will be protected from every magician, fortune teller, Shaytan and every jealous person

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith with a weak chain.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4303)

Transliteration of the du’a

Amsayna wa amsal mulku wal hamdu lillah, a’udhu billahil ladhi yumsikus sama’a an taqa’a ‘alal ardi illa bi idhnihi min sharri ma khalaqa wa dhara’a wa bara’a

Imam Ibnus Sunni (rahimahullah) has also recorded a similar weak narration which states the du’a should be recited thrice. The Hadith in question is supported by this narration and is suitable to quote and practice upon as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
