When a Believer is praised, his Iman should increase

Is there a Hadith which states that some people’s Iman increases when they are praised?

Answer

Imams Hakim and Tabarani (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Usamah ibn Zayd (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has declared the chain weak.

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 3 pg. 597, Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 424. Refer: Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 719. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 119)

‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) explains that this Hadith refers to a perfect complete believer who will not become affected when praised. i.e. The praise will not be a cause of pride and vanity. Rather, it will motivate him to carry out more good deeds.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 855)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
