Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

when i pray Salah, Fard, Sunnah and Nafil i sometimes pray i go into Sujood and say Subhana Rabbiyal A’la) ‘Glorious is my Lord the Most High, i then sometimes keep silent for a moment and make dua in my mind asking for Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to give prophet muhammed ibn abdul (saw) the highest rank in jannah and give him my peace and blessings, to his family also and to his companions , and i also ask Allah the most high to give my father jannatul firdaus and forgive him. is that okay ? it it allowed ?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

In principle, making Duʿā in one’s mind during the Sajdah position of Ṣalāh does not affect the validity of one’s Ṣalāh.

However, you should not remain silent for a period longer than the duration that it takes to recite SubahanAllah thrice (3-5 seconds), since that will nullify the prayer.

We advise the following practices in respect to Duʿā and Ṣalāh:

  • Making Duʿā between the Adhān and the Iqāmāh.
  • Making Duʿā after a Farḍ Ṣalāh.
  • Verbally making Duʿā in Arabic in the Sajdah of a Nafl Ṣalāh.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
