Bad smell in Kitchen

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Assalamualaikum Mufti Saheb,

We are staying in rented house. House is well built, but in the kitchen very bad smell comes from kitchen drainage. Later, we came to know that the water of toilet of our house and other houses of same building passes from under the kitchen drainage. Really, it’s horrible situation.

Is this a bad omen to house. Should we vaccate our house. Please reply at the earliest.

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

This has nothing to do with any bad omen, and Islamically, it is permissible for you to continue staying at the same residence.

However, from a hygiene point of view, if you can afford it and it is feasible, it will be better for you to rather get alternate accommodation.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best

Wassalaam,

Ismail Moosa (Mufti)
