Is it permissible to marry in Islam if a person is not financially capable?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
What is the exact age of merraige in islam? Can a person marry in case he needs it but financially he is not capable enough?

Answer

(Fatwa: 590/587=D)

One can marry any time after buloogh (puberty) provided he is can fulfil the due rights. It is better to marry after getting any source of income. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) married Hazrat Khadeejah (Raziallahu Anha) when he was 25 and got his daughter Fatimah (Raziallahu Anha) married with Hazrat Ali (Raziallahu Anhu) when Hazrat Ali (Raziallahu Anhu) was 25; so this age is better for marriage.

If a man can not afford maintenance of wife and fears that he may not be able to fulfil her rights he should wait until he is financially sound. If he is not financially well but can pay the necessary maintenance and he is in need of nikah then he can marry with the intention of chastity, in-sha-Allah Allah will grant him prosperity and wellbeing:

إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

If they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace. (24/32)
