Should I continue fasting on Eid Ul Adha while I’m in the middle of a 60-day fast?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I had a big argument while fasting during this ramadan. I got very angry with the situation and with myself for getting into this situation. In a state of anger i went and drank 3 sips of water.i did not eat the whole day. i have done a BIG mistake. I have started by fasting for 60 days. Inshallah Allah FORGIVE ME. Since i have started fasting and it has to be done every day for 60 days, what do i do as EID UL ADHA will come during my fasting. Should i continue fasting on the day of Eid?

Answer

(Fatwa: 2505/1555/H=1431)

It is wajib to keep sixty continuous fasts in a way that the month of Ramadan and the days in which fasting is prohibited (i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Ayyam al-Tashriq) do not fall in between. During your sixty days kaffarah fast, Eid-ul-Azha is approaching. In this case, it will be wajib for you after Eid-ul-Azha to keep fast continuously for two months’ (sixty days). You should have asked the ruling before starting the kaffarah fast. It is haram to keep fast on the day of Eid-ul-Azha and after it on 11th, 12th and 13th of Zul Hijjah. The detail is available in Fatawa Shami etc.
