Burial Place of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: Why was Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam buried in the house of Hazrat Aisha radhiallahu anha?

A: Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said that a Nabi (prophet) should be buried at the same place where he died. Since Rasuloollah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) passed away in the room of Hadhrat Aa’isha (Radhiyallaahu Anhaa), he was buried there. In fact, he was buried at the very spot where he passed away. The body was moved to one side so that the Sahaaba could dig a grave beneath the spot where he passed away. (Al Khasaa’isul Kubraa – Allaamah Suyuti v.2, p.414).
