Waswasa while performing Wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have dealt with waswasah for a while now, making the religion which is easy, hard. So far I have successfully, alhamdulillaah, reduced my pronunciationwaswasah to little to nothing. My main problem is doing wudoo’ and then finding something that causes doubts, I want to explain further:

I can do wudoo’ which is abit exaggerated in wiping the head & ears; doing it more than required because of doubts, but I have majorly improved from how I was a coupleof months ago, alhamdulillaah.
I think my skin is rarely free from bits or something that is an obstacle for wudoo’ like loose flakes of skin on my feet from dead skin, and also I havenaturally oilly nose and I rub that when doing Wudoo’, but if I look after a short while then I see that it is with dry loose white bits there, which I do not know whatit is called. Also skin on my lips.. like some peeled off and some attached and I do extra focus on my lips as well.

Now for someone with waswasah like me, before I was advised with my pronounciational waswasah to say everything once, which I am doing, alhamdulillaah, is there such a solution for waswasah in wudoo’? I need this explained if there is, what is meant by “ignore everything” what about what I feel I have missed??

Please be very detailed with your advice, so a child can understand it, especially someone with waswasah.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Rasūlullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) advised us that there is a Shaytan for everything. There is also a Shaytan for Wudhu to distract us from our Wudhu. We should ignore the waswasas of and focus on our responsibilities. The best manner to overcome your wasaawis after washing a limb thrice, immediately cease washing that limb and move on to the next. All of the limbs in wudhu should be performed with such an attitude. Inshallah, adopting such and attitude, it will train you to ignore Shaytaan’s wasaawis and make your life easier.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
