Answer

We have not come across any authentic references of virtues of reciting Du’
aa Ganjul Arsh.

Once a pious person was on a journey to Makkah and walked through the desert
for three days. On the fourth day, owing to extreme thirst – as he saw
death – he sat down facing the Qiblah.

As he sat there, sleep overtook him and in a dream he saw a man coming
towards him with his hands stretched out to him saying, ‘Here take my hand.’
Then he spoke, ‘I have come to give you glad tidings; you shall perform Hajj
and return home safe and sound, and you shall also visit the grave of
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam).’

The sheikh said, ‘Who are you?’ He replied, ‘I am Khidhr.’ The Shaykh said,
‘Pray for me.’ Hadhrat Khidhr advised, ‘Recite these words thrice, ‘Yaa
lateefan bi khalqihi. Yaa ‘aleeman bikhaliqihi. Yaa khabeeran bikhalqihi.
Ultuf biy yaa lateef, yaa ‘aleem yaa khabeer.’

When the Shaykh heard this, he woke up and saw someone on a camel. Then he
made Hajj.

The Shaykh says whenever he met any distress or difficulty, he recited the
Du’aa taught by Hadhrat Khidhr (Alayhis salaam). It proved to be very
beneficial and for all this he is most grateful to Allah. (Virtues of Hajj;
Hadhrat Shaykh Zakariyyah, edited)
