Should I renew my Wudhu?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

As Salamu Alaikum, I pray that you, your family and the rest of the team are in the best of health, I’ve got 2 questions. The first question is I’ve got a istinja problem, when I finish urinating there is always a lot of drops and sometimes they don’t stop, I do istibra and it doesn’t work, I spoke to my local scholar- mufti and he said to me that I should renew my wudhu for each salah. After I finish urinating I wrap some tissue so the drops don’t fall on my clothes. Somtimes drops don’t come out, Alhamdulillah but when they do I can be in the toilet for about 30 – 45 mins and miss my salah in Jamaat, sometimes I even miss a salah as I dont know if I can pray in this state. I have been to my doctor and done blood tests and urine tests and Alhamdulillah I’m fine, I don’t know what is it. It’s driving me crazy. Deen is easy but I don’t know what to do. Please can you advise me on this. Is there a specific technique which can help me? What can I do? Sometimes I get angry Ias i miss my salah because the drops of urine do not stop. My second question, is using a Tasbeeh bidah? Are you allowed to make zhikr with a tasbih? I thought its perfectly fine but I heard its bidah, im not sure. May Allah reward you for these efforts.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1.      If your urine continuously flows for a complete salaah time, not leaving enough time to perform wudhu and fard salaah then you will be regarded as a Ma’zur. A Ma’zur performs wudhu for every salaah time. His wudhu will remain intact for the complete salaah time. The expiry of the salaah time and any other impurity besides the urine drops will break his wudhu. For example, if he performs wudhu for fajr the wudhu will be lost at the time of sunrise.

You are allowed to perform any nawafil, recite Quran or perform Tawaaf for the duration of the salaah time in which you are a ma’zur.

If the urine drops do not surface even once for a complete salaah time you will no longer be regarded as a mazur. You will resume as a normal person who will have to perform wudhu after the impurity surfaces.[1]

If the urine flows during the time of jamaat you will be excused from participating in the jamaat. Inshallah you will be rewarded for having the intention of performing with the jamaat. You do not need to wait in the toilet for the time that you mentioned.

2.      To use a rosary/tasbeeh is permissible.[2] A narration reported by Imam Tirmizi mentions a sahaabiya using date pits or pebbles to make tasbeeh in the presence of Nabi salallāhu alayhi wasallam. If this act was impermissible Nabi salallāhu alayhi wasallam would have definitely warned against it.
