Question:
Respected Ulama
My neighbour is a non Muslim and has a photo processing business. Being neighbours we have a cordial relationship with them. They regularly send gifts in the form of eats which are of a permissible nature. Can we partake of these in view of the fact that their income is from a photo business. Please reply urgently with substantive references.
Was salaam
Answer:
If your neighbour is a non-Muslim then you can partake of his gifts (which are of a permissible nature) because the laws of Halaal and Haraam with regards to earning an income relates only to a Muslim’s income and not to a non-Muslims income. (Ad-Durrul Mukhtaar, Vol. 4, Page 210, Imdaadul Ahkaam)
