How can we keep the name and perform aqiqah for the baby given the current circumstances?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Alhamdulillah, my nephew was born very weak at the end of 7th month and weighed only 950 grams. He is placed in the incubator from the time of the birth and his growth is improving day by day Alhamdulillah. Today is the 7th day of his birth as he was born on last Friday. Till now, we did not keep his name and nor could we give the azaan in his ears nor could we taste him some dates with honey. I had learnt that, as per sunnah that we have to keep the name on 7th day (today) and perform aqiqah (by sacrificing 2 lambs and removing child’s hair and give sadaqah to the poor by weighing the hair) and circumcision. The baby is still in mother’s place and not in our parents house. With all the above issues, how to keep the name or do aqiqah? Please guide and advice.

In the above mentioned case, if the child was born weak and underweight then too you should have said azan in his right ear and iqamah in his left ear immediately after his birth. And if the child was to be put in the machine then too with the permission of the doctor you should have said azan and iqamah near the machine with normal volume. However, if azan and iqamah has not been said yet, then you should say it at the earliest and make no further delay. (Fatawa Mahmoodia, 5, 456, Question: 2255, pub. Get some dates chewed by some pious person and apply it to his palate and choose some good name for the child and if possible do his aqiqah on the seventh day or 14th day. In case, you cannot do it on the 14th day then you can do it on the 21st day. Aqiqah is mustahab, it protects the child against various calamities and misfortunes.
