Question

Assalamualaikum

If blood or pus dries up on one’s skin, will that prevent water from reaching the skin during wudoo or ghusl?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

In principle, anything which prevents the water from reaching the skin of the limb to be washed in wudhu should be removed prior to wudhu.  Similarly, anything preventing water to reach any part of the body should be removed prior to ghusl.

When blood forms a clot it will prevent water from reaching the skin.  If removing the blood is harmful to the injury then you can just wash over it.  If washing over it is harmful then wipe over it, and if wiping is also harmful then you can leave it unwashed.
