I used to always pray with my forehead fully covered with my turban. Is there a dispensation for me?
There is no dispensation for you in our school. There is no difference of opinion in our school regarding this, as Imam al-Nawawi stated in the Majmu` that whoever performs sajda on his hand, or on the folds of his turban, or on the cuff of his sleeve or the end of his turban, and all those things move with his person when he moves, when he stands, sits, etc., his prayer is not valid.
The proof of the madhhab is the hadith of our master Khubab ibn al-Arat, may Allah be well pleased with him, that he said, “We complained to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah send him peace and blessings, about the heat of the ground on our foreheads and the palms of our hands, but he didn’t grant us.”
So, if it was not for the obligatory nature of uncovering them, he would have told them to cover them up, as is said in the Tuhfa. I don’t know about what the other schools say in this issue, and Allah knows best.
