Is it from the Hadith that one should not sleep in between Fajar and Zohar Salaah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I would like to ask you that Is there any such hadees of Nabi SAW that one should not sleep in between Fajar and Zohar? I just got this among some ahadith from my friend but I want to confirm as I know some of very pious people, who do stay awake till the time of chasht (Salat ud Duha) but then sleep around 10-10:30. Just want to know if any of such hadith is there?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

There is no prohibition in Shariah to sleep between Fajar and Zuhar salah. If there is a need to sleep, one may do so. However, the time in the morning is filled with barakah (blessing) due to the dua of Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. It is mentioned in a hadith:

عن صخر الغامدي قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: اللهم بارك لأمتي في بكورها.

Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said Oh Allah bless my ummat in the early part of the day. [1]

If there is no need to sleep after Fajar, then one should not deprive himself from the dua of Rasulullah Salallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
