Could you pls tell me if it permissible for Muslims to eat at Mc Donald’s in the UK? I have some family who do but some who don’t and have had mixed opinions about the halal situation of McDonalds.
Would be grateful if you could let me know.

Wa ‘Alaykum as-Salaam wa Rahmatullah,
The Prophet (صلی اللہ علییہ وسلم) has mentioned in a Hadith:
دع ما يريبك الی ما لا يريبك
‘Leave those things which are doubtful and adopt things which are not doubtful’
A Muslim is always encouraged to leave doubtful matter as this can always lead to perpetrating actual prohibited crimes within the Shari’ah. Many fast-food restaurants, including the one in reference, all have a lot of cross-contamination between the halal and haram items. Along with that, many times the left over oil used for cooking foods such as ham, bacon, and other haram meats are filtered and then reused. It is imperative for every Muslim to avoid eating from such restaurants and to try their utmost to only consume undoubtful foods.
