Tafseer-e-Usmani (Surah al-Baqarah verse 113)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
I was reading the Tafsir of Quran from Tafseer-e-Usmani and have a question about verse 113 of Surah Al-Baqarah. It says that the Christians read about the ungratefulness of the Jews in the Bible and concluded that the Jews’ religion was not the truth, while the Jews read about the Christians belief of Jesus being the son of God (God forbid!) in the Torat. Now my question is that if Jesus and Christianity came after Moses and Judaism then how did the Torat foretell that the people of Hazrat Eisa would call him son of God? Was that a prophecy of Hazrat Musa (AS)?
You misunderstood the verses of the holy Quran, briefly what they mean is that during the time of the prophet peace be upon him both of these groups were present and used to oppose each other. Whereas Allah wanted everyone to believe but these groups used deny each other’s prophets and books. So, Allah declared it to be wrong. We should believe every thing revealed by Allah s.w. testify to it. The Jews and Christians of the prophet’s time used to do the opposite of that and that’s what is explained in this verse.
