Guidance About Difficult Family Situation

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah

I am 18 years old and have two younger siblings. For the past year, my father has been threatening to kick us out of the house and has been wrongfully accusing me and my mother of horrible crimes in which we have no involvement such as adultery. We told his brothers and they took him to a psychiatrist, he is now on medication. But, it is evident that everyone is on his side. Because they’ve been deceived for so long as to who he is and what we had been hiding from everyone for so long, no one believes us. I think one day I’ll have to take my mother and my younger siblings away from him. But in the meantime, what can I do to help my mother and siblings when we are so alone and afraid?

First of all, we recommend that you and the family refrain from any such actions which may lead to your father having any suspicions. Be strong, create a deeni atmosphere in your home, perform ta‘leem at home, and make a habit of reading supplications such as the dua for entering and leaving the house, the masnoon supplications of morning and evening etc. Try to respectfully bring this situation in front of some elderly and respected family members and try to have your father counseled through them. InshahAllah, this will bring softness and clarity in his heart and will lead to ultimately freeing you and the family from the set of mentioned issues.
