If I don’t trim my armpits beyond 14 days, are my prayers invalid?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I prayed all my prayers on the 14th day of not shaving my private parts and underarms. On the 15th day, I remembered after Fajr that I had forgotten to do this. I then shaved my stuff and made up my fajr salat. Do I have to make up all the prayers I prayed on the 14th day? JazakAllahKhair.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.

The validity of prayer is not affected by the state of one’s armpit hair. However, the sunna is to shave or trim one’s private bodily hair once a week; it is not disliked up to two weeks; after this, it is somewhat disliked and blameworthy to delay this (because it is contrary to the sunna of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)); and it becomes sinful to delay shaving or trimming one’s private bodily hair beyond 40 days. And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
