Breaking Voluntary Fast for Invite

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by SunniPath Answer Service Team

Can I break my nafl of voluntary fast, if someone I meet invites me to his house to eat? Is it better to do this not to break his heart with a decline? Can you guide me in this issue?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa Alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

From a past post by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani:

It is permitted before Zuhr time to break the fast if it is a non-obligatory fast, unless the person who offers the food is one’s parents and they will dislike your refusal.

Wassalam,
