Currently I’m reading a book on one of the scholars’ life and work. I need some help in understand it. It says:
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
It is probably poor English: the sound meaning would be, “From 12 o’clock to Zuhr time, he took a nap.”
This is the sunna: to take a nap before or after Zuhr time; a sunna which our righteous ulema take very seriously, as it is one of the tested means that assist in getting up for night vigil (tahajjud) prayer.
It is stated in al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya (also known as Alamgiriyya),
“It is recommended to take the noon nap (qaylula), because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Take the noon nap, for the Shaytan does not nap.” [Tabarani (Awsat)] This was mentioned in al-Ghiyathiyya.” [5.372]
And Allah alone gives success.
