RE: Praying at the office

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaam alaikum,

Can I offer some advice to the brother regarding praying at the office from my own experience? At my office it was also difficult to prayer. However, we used to book a meeting room for prayer. (If the room is booked towards the end of zohr time and beginning of the asr then two salaats can be done with one booking).

When rooms were not available we found an area that was not frequented by people such as the stairwells.( In most multistory building there is always a second set of stairs used as a fire escape that can be used.) One day, I found a corridor that was never used and ma’shallah found my “own” mosque at work. Al-hamdullillah.

Seek out other Muslims at your work place who may also want to pray. From my experience when more and more brothers started performing salaat at my work place we approached the building services department and they actually designated a sectioned off area as a prayer area.

As for doing wudu. We find that the disabled people’s toilets are very useful for this since the door can be locked and there is a sink within the room.

I realise this is not a discussion forum but I thought the above may be of use to the brother since I used to miss prayers at work because of “not having the facilities” to do so but found that when I set my resolve to complete my salaat Allah (s.w.t) eased the way for me. Shukr-Al-hamdu Lillah.

Regards,

Mohammed.
