Leaving out things that do not concern one

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I listen to your audios. I didn’t understand one thing. You said “why should you take someone’s misery? If he wants to be miserable let him die with his misery. Your heart is not a dumpyard, it is the place where the noor of Allah descends”. It was something like that. What do you actually mean? I have a friend who shares her misery with me, (she is married to someone who she started to dislike but likes someone else who is getting married and many other things) I really don’t know how to react and how to help her. Should I stop listening to her? Is that what you meant to say?

What is the key to keep one’s heart clean?

Bismillaah

A: What is meant by misery is things that don’t concern you, like what is happening in Turkey or what is going on in Toronto; when it does not concern you then why do you take it on. And further it is not within your capacity.

The more one is consumed with the presence of Allah Ta`ala that primarily you are answerable to Him and He is the most compassionate and loving, when this thought overwhelms you then all other stray thoughts of people and things will gradually leave your heart and mind.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
