Question:
Question is on Inheritance and how to work out number of shares for each heir.
I am married man with one child. I have both my parents still alive and I have 5 brothers and one sister (4 brothers are married – 3 of them have two children each and the one currently has no children; The one brother and one sister is not yet married). If I were to pass away what would the distribution of my estate be?
Jazakallah for you time and effort
Answer:
You did not provide the details of your wife and child, i.e. is he/she a boy or girl? This detail is compulsory. However, if we suppose that at the time of your death your wife, both parents and one male child were alive, then the estate will be distributed as follows, one eighth (1/8) of your estate will go to your wife, your parents will receive one sixth (1/6) each, and the remainder will go to your one male child. If the chid is a female, then half (1/2) your estate will go to your daughter, one eighth (1/8) to your wife, one sixth (1/6) each to your parents, and the remainder will come back to your father. Brothers and sisters do not receive anything if the son or son’s son or father or father’s father is alive.
