Question:
Salaam
With regards to Nikah. A woman is not present at the mosque so two males from her family represent her. Does she have to verbally and in clear words say that she is appointing them as her representatives to give her in Nikah to me? If she doesn’t then is the Nikah valid? Or else what is the correct procedure?

Answer:
If the girl is told that “You are to be married off to so and so in lieu of the Mahr being ” and after listening, she verbally expresses her approval or writes it down, and thereafter her Nikah is performed with the very same man who was described to her, then the Nikah will be correct. It is not necessary for the girl to clearly appoint her representatives in order for the Nikah to be correct.
