What is the meaning of the words ‘لا يستجرينكم الشيطان’ in the following Hadith:

عن أبي نضرة، عن مطرف، قال: قال أبي: انطلقت في وفد بني عامر إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: فقلنا: أنت سيدنا، فقال: السيد الله تبارك وتعالى قلنا: وأفضلنا فضلا وأعظمنا طولا، فقال: قولوا بقولكم، أو بعض قولكم، ولا يستجرينكم الشيطان

Answer:

This Hadith is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and other Hadith collections.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4773)

The translation of the words in question is ‘And do not let Shaytan use you as his agent/representative.’ [by excessively praising someone as alluded to by this Hadith]
