A query regarding Tasbih Fatimi and five du’as taught to Fatimah (radiyallahu ‘anha)

I heard the following wazifah/du’as that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had given to Sayyidah Fatimah (radiyallahu ‘anha) when she went to ask him for some help, if we read it as well it will help make our work easy for us as well as ease our tiredness:

1. Tasbih Fatimi:

  • 33 x SubhanAllah
  • 33 x Alhamdulillah
  • 34 x Allahu Akbar

2. The 5 Kalimat (words) :

  • Ya Awwalal Awwalin
  • Ya Akhiral Akhirin
  • Ya Dhal Quwwatil Matin
  • Ya Rahimal Masakin
  • Ya Arhamar Rahimin

3. 300 x times Durud (Salutations).

What is the authenticity of this Hadith?

Answer

This is made up of two separate Hadiths, that have prescribed these recitals for ease in work or as a means of fulfilling one’s needs.

1) The first part is a Hadith recorded in Sahih Bukhari wherein Sayyidatuna Fatimah (radiyallahu ‘anha) requested a slave from Nabi to ease her workload. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) advised her to recite this when retiring to bed.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3113 and 6318. See here)

2) The second narration in recorded in Kitabud Du’a of Imam Tabarani. Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) sent Sayyidah Fatimah (radiyallahu ‘anha) to ask Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) for some food as they were starving. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) offered to give her some goats or to teach her five words which Jibril (‘alayhis salam) had taught Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). These words were, Ya Awwalal Awwalin, Ya Akhiral Akhirin, Ya Dhal Quwwatil Matin, Ya Rahimal Masakin, Ya Arhamar Rahimin.

(Kitabud Du’a, Hadith: 1047. See the full narration here)

3) I have not come across mention of salutations as part of the above two narrations. However, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) advised that Allah Ta’ala will take care of whatever concerns a person with regard to this world or the Hereafter through abundant salutations.

Therefore abundant salutations (not specifically 300) is definitely a means of fulfilling one’s needs.
