A Hadith on silk and gold for females

Could you verify this narration?

“Wearing silk and gold has made unlawful for the males of my Ummah and lawful for its females”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Wearing gold [jewellery] and silk [garments] has been made unlawful upon the males of my ummah and has been permitted for females.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1720)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih).

Note: I have merely answered your question regarding the authenticity of the Hadith in question. This should therefore not be viewed as a Fiqh ruling. Kindly contact a Mufti/Darul Ifta for a fatwa on this matter.
