One of the benefits of sleeping with wudu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Please tell me if this is authentic:

The person who sleeps with wudu, while he is asleep his soul prostrates in front of the arsh of Allah.

Answer

Among the numerous benefits of sleeping in the state of wudu is the following:

1. Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu’anhu) has said:

“When a person sleeps, his soul (ruh) rises to the throne (Arsh) of Allah. If he slept with wudu, the soul is permitted to make sajdah (by the Arsh of Allah), and if he slept in the state of impurity, permission for sajdah is refused.

(Kitabuz Zud of Ibnul Mubarak, Hadith:1245)

2. A similar virtue is reported from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibnul ‘As (radiyallahu’anhuma) in Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2527.

These narrations are reliable, and have also been quoted by Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) in his famous commentary on Sahih Bukhari entitled: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 1149.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
