A follow up query on the fabricated narration regarding the virtue of giving ghusl to the deceased

May you please elaborate on the reason for the narration regarding the virtue of giving ghusl to the deceased being classified a fabrication? I don’t have access to the books quoted.

Answer

The chain consists of a fabricator, Hammad ibn ‘Amr An Nasibi.

Imam Yahya ibn Ma’in, Imam Al Juzajani and Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahumullah) have declared this narrator a fabricator. Imams Bukhari, Abu Zur’ah, Abu Hatim and Nasai (rahimahumullah) have declared him extremely weak.

Imam Hakim and Imam Abu Sa’id An Naqqash have stated that he reports fabrications from reliable narrators.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
