A narration regarding Janazah Salah

Is this Hadith authentic?

When Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) performed Janazah Salah, he would raise his hands whenever he said the takbir and when he would turn he would say the salam

Answer

Imam Daraqutni (rahimahullah) states that this narration has been recorded as a Hadith/action of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and has also been reported as the action of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

He then states that the correct version is that this is the action of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Al ‘ilal of Imam Daraqutni, vol. 7 pg. 21/22, Hadith: 2908)

This narration should therefore not be quoted as a Hadith/action of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

Note: I have merely answered your question regarding the authenticity of this specific Hadith. This should therefore not be viewed as a Fiqh ruling. Kindly refer to a reputable Mufti/Darul Ifta for further clarification.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
