Was Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) nur (celestial light)?

Is the following Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Fourteen thousand years before Adam was created, ‘Ali and I were a light in the presence of Allah. When Allah created Adam, He placed that nur in Adam’s back. We continued as one until we separated in the back of ‘Abdul Muttalib, so I am one of the parts and ‘Ali is the other part”

Answer

Hafiz Ibn ‘Asakir (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration in his Tarikh with a chain that has a fabricator in it. The Hadith is not suitable to quote.

(Tarikh Ibn ‘Asakir, vol. 42 pg. 67, Lisanul Mizan, vol. 3 pg. 80-84, Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 1 pg. 351 and Al Fawaidul Majmu’ah, pg. 284)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
